Towel Cake - Skip the Calories

I'm a big fan of creativity and here are more ideas for 'different' promotions.

I just signed up with a gym yesterday and they gave me a bag full of 'goodies'.  A white logo'd t-shirt, two water bottles and a small towel.  All useful and staple gifts.  I tried to think what would make a fun gift with membership (or gift with purchase) product and came up with these (since most people who start exercising want to LOSE WEIGHT)

These may look tempting, but it may also enable someone to FOCUS on their goal.  Giving up the real high calorie goodies for a while until they get to where they want to be.

Of course, these eco-friendly goodies can be used for other occasions.  I've featured some ideas in an earlier blog entry but I found these other cute ones and wanted to share them with you as the packaging is different.

Branding - Be Everywhere You Can Be

What's a  common characteristic of businesses that succeed in economic up and down markets? They are going to be everywhere they can be. I like to refer to this as low key yet effective guerrilla marketing.   Collateral is unique, useful  with no missed opportunity to reach out to a targeted demographic.

The Big Switch - Are You Ready for June 12?

Say goodbye to those analog rabbit antennas and hello 100% DIGITAL!  June 12 is when the Big Switch will be happening?  It's might not be as prominent on the news as the Y2K uncertainty..but a lot of people are going to be caught off guard on June 13 when their old television sets won't be working.

HERE is information you'll need to know prior to June 12 and CNET has useful information as well.  If you have an analog television and your cable wire goes from the wall directly to your television, you will need a converter box WHICH IS FREE. 

While most of you reading this may already by set, please reach out to the elderly in your neighborhoods who are not as tech savvy as you are and help them get the FREE assistance they may need.

 
 

What's All This Tweet Nonsense? Or Is It?

Sometimes, it just feels like everyone is talking at the same time.  Perhaps that's what birds do. TweetLikeCrazy. On any given weekend morning when I have time to sip and enjoy my morning cup of java and take the puppy for his morning run, I stop by and let him hear the chirping.

And there's always one that stands out. One that has a rhythm.  One that makes sense. One you connect with. Or more, if you try and hone in your senses.

At a recent visit to a koi pond, this image felt analogous to life in this economic times.  A feeding frenzy. Chaotic.

As a marketer AND an adopter of Social Media's madness, I tell those I meet IRL (in real life) that you  need to qualify what you read, who you engage with (make that MUST engage with) and who you take outside the 140 character realm.  It's not always about the money and most importantly, it's NOT ABOUT THE NUMBERS.  OPRAH has over a million followers and has updated 46 times. 
 
I like making friends. I like to add value.  I like to help people and corporations plan successful campaigns. I can do this in my sleep.  Folks pretty much know what I do - and can do - but most of the engagement is done by email or phone after making a connection on various mediums.  

It is a chirpin' frenzy out there on the interweb these days.  Tune out and hone your skills and you will find some really inspiring people, as I have (more on them soon).  And if you hear too many birds at one time...then change your game and Go Fish.
