Our Littlest Marketer Visits the Shop

So yesterday at the shop, our little 15 month old grandson, Nathan, came to spend some time with us (after he voted, of course).  Here he is totally amused choosing some promotional products from our database.

I thought you would get a kick out of this shot - he was thoroughly amused and would smile each time the screen would change.  If you happen to call us and hear a baby pick up the phone and say 'dada?' - please be patient - eventually he'll give the phone to us and go 'uh oh' with a smile that never fails to melt my heart.

New Toy Safety Laws

Reference:  Parents Magazine, October 2008

After a year of warnings about lead and dangerous plastics in toys and baby items - especially those imported from China - President Bush has signed a new LAW  to make kids' products safer.
Zzzduck
By the beginning of 2009, children's products sold in the U.S. can't contain more than a minuscule amount of lead or three types of phthalates (chemicals in certain plastics that may have an adverse effect on developing endocrine and reproductive systems).  Three other phthalates will be banned termporarily so that more studies can be done.

The consumer Product Safety Commission will have more authority and a bigger budget to regulate kids' products.

Manufacturers must submit all products for independent testing and label them (rather than the packaging) with tracking numbers so it's easier to identify recalled items.  "Requiring pre-market testing is an important change." says Joel forman, M.D, a member of the America Academyof pediatrics committee on Environmental Health, which advocated for the bill.

Our Statement on Product Safety:

Early Childhood Training - Mom Approved

We have now officially begun training our third generation!  Inspecting QUALITY  and STYLE and having an eye for what feels good, tastes good, smells good, looks good and sounds good starts very early.

I mean - really early!  Our future CEO is on the hunt for his birthday apparel.  Right now, he's a visual creature...but he'll get the hang of it. The imprint on the back of his shirt pretty much tells you what he thinks of his job!!   We'll give him a few years!

Newkidinthemall

Oh and this CAMELBAK bottle here (below) - naturally, a safe BPA free bottle, of course! So easy to maneuver even an 11-month old can handle it!

We discovered today that you can't fool a toddler (at least not this one!) They know where the REAL remote control is. They prefer to call daddy from a REAL cellphone.  They like their sippy cups but prefer Mom's .5L Camelbak water bottle which is just the right size to hold while sitting up in a car seat.

Nate's favorite sippy cup is a non-messy, spill-proof BPA free bottle - Classic Camelbak with a bite valve -  available for promotional imprinting from WEBBMAR

The Scent of a Baby

Before Nathan was born, we spend a good month getting his nursery in order. Everyone pitched in to paint, decorate, build the crib and turn a room into a baby sanctuary.  A couple of weeks before he arrived, I came across NOODLE AND BOO at Neiman Marcus in San Francisco.  The Reed Diffuser immediately reminded me of the wonderful fresh scent of a little baby, so I got one for the room.  Noodle

He's seven months old now and the room still smells wonderfully fresh.  It's become so aromatically familiar that when I take him to his room, he recognizes the scent and knows where he is.  It's his happy place. He loves to be rocked and read to, and loves listening to music.

Noodle and Boo has products for both mom and baby and is very gentle. We added this product to a baby gift basket we recently put together.

Reed diffusers are an excellent alternative to room sprays.  They last a lot longer and there are no chemicals to worry about.

And of course, who can resist that sweet smell of baby!

Baby Stuff - Seven Months and Growing..

One of our favorite things to do, other than helping businesses promote their service or brand is finding really neat stuff for our grandson.  It just falls nicely into all the research we do.  Our little boy is almost seven months and eating like a pro (we posted a 6 month photo earlier this month).  He had a little bit of a hard time taking to green peas.  And it was hard to fool him!! At one of his early feedings and introduction to gourmet greens, I mixed his peas with his rice cereal, he was cool with that. However, when I gave him the peas by itself, he gagged.  At six months, he gagged!  How to babies not like peas!!  Well, he's finally getting the hang of it and is doing much better.  And liking veggies.

So, while researching for neat baby stuff for Nate - and we found a lot - here are a few items we found, and wish we invented- maybe we can get to the manufacturer and get it into our industry!

Timetoeat

The gyroscopic bowl  from LOOPA on the left will keep snacks from spilling. The bowl oscillates and the handles are handy for mom or toddler.  The Benders utensils are from BOON.  I like the rounded ends. You can bend the spoon and fork to make feeding easy. It will also come in handy when baby tries to feed him or herself. We were able to get the set from Babies R Us.

We also think this product called Walking Wings (below) is a great mom aid and will help baby learn to walk safely. It will also be kind to (my) back.Wings

These items are available online and in some specialty stores.

Update 3/1/08 : We got the Walking Wings (at Babies R Us) for our grandson today and it's really cool.  He likes to jump - so this will really be a back saver, just as I thought!!  I would like to think a grandparent invented this, but I'm not sure!!
